SPRAGGA BENZ IN LOOT & RIOT MAGAZINE
Ink Tone Swep
Legendary Dancehall DJ Spragga Benz has been a staple on the Reggae music scene since the homies nicknamed him Spaghetti in the early 80’s. Though the adolescent moniker didn’t stick, the music career certainly did – and that is to the delight of music fans worldwide. Spragga’s new album “Chiliagon”, spearheaded by lead single “Spread Out” featuring Hype & Fever – which features a bouncy club beat and dope companion video – the artist’s latest project adds to an impressive catalogue of classic music moments he’s worked hard to establish.
Having collaborated with the who’s-who of urban music from Bobby Digital (Wu Tang’s RZA), Foxy Brown, and Chevelle Franklyn, to Wyclef Jean, KRS-One, and Beenie Man, Spragga has released several hit songs throughout his storied career. His hit list includes “A1 Lover”, “Jack it Up”, “Turn Me On”, and “This is the Way” featuring Nas, to name a few. Spragga’s debut album “Jack It Up” was released in ’94 on New York’s VP Records to critical acclaim, and was followed by a regal resume of major label album releases including 95’s “Uncommonly Smooth”, “Two Bad DJ’s” in ’99, “Fully Loaded” in 2000, “Thug Nature” in ’02, “Love Good” in ’07, and 2010’s ultra hot “Shotta Culture”. Consistency is key, so the doors to sound success are always open to Spragga Benz. One of Dancehall’s best brings the Kingston noise once again. Crown him.
